Holy Family School — grounds that hold up to a full school year

A school campus is really several different landscapes sharing one address, and each part is judged by a different person.

Parents see the entrance. Staff see the parking islands every day. The grounds crew sees whatever was left difficult to mow. All of it has to work at once.

The entrance does the talking

Around the walkways and the statuary the planting is deliberately calm: shrub and hosta beds, stone benches, a boulder set against the building line, nothing that needs constant attention to look right.

The rest has to be practical

Across the parking islands and the field edges the priority flips to durability and access. Beds are shaped so a mower can take them in one pass, and the planting is kept clear of the sightlines drivers need.
